A closer look at B2B sales
Consumer markets in Australia, New Zealand and globally face new challenges that require creative and proactive solutions. Inflation and an uncertain economic climate have caused businesses to change their purchasing habits and cut business spending wherever possible.
According to HubSpot’s 2023 Sales Trends Report, for B2B sellers, the most effective sales strategies for winning new customers are:
1. Setting up face-to-face meetings;
2. Highlighting solutions to customer problems, and;
3. Establishing competitive advantages in the market.
The report also mentions that one-third of sales professionals’ top goals this year is to make their sales process more efficient via automations and other technology. Particular to the B2B space, sales representatives need to be able to communicate a lot of information about their product in a short amount of time, making video-recordings and interactive demos particularly important to a wide range of organisations.
A closer look at B2C sales
February 2023 Global Consumer Insights Pulse Survey showed that 50% of respondents were either extremely or very concerned about their personal financial situation, and 96% intended to adopt cost-saving behaviour over the following six months.
Australian retailers echo these concerns, saying that consumer confidence is the biggest challenge they face in 2023, followed by staffing issues and global economic factors. Getting a competitive advantage in this landscape demands a forward-thinking approach to sales and consumer markets.
Since online sales now represent 20% of Australia’s total retail sales, competitive companies need to find staff who can navigate online markets, drive traffic, and educate target markets through digital channels. Creating a seamless consumer experience in-store and online will be crucial to unlocking modern consumer markets.
